Opportunity
Our client, a leader in automotive component testing and certification, is looking for a Project Engineer to join their Taylor, MI team. Working with our proprietary test technology and the Operations team, the Project Engineer seeks to develop common operations tasks and develops and improves test procedures. The Project Engineer will also help to diagnose and resolve problems with test equipment.
Responsibilities
- Work with customers to define test requirements and develop test plans and be accountable for meeting burner test and development project objectives and meeting quality objectives.
- Work with technicians to conduct burner tests and maintain test cell operation closely following the defined process.
- Leads test planning, execution, data quality checking and data delivery.
- Perform data analysis and interpret results to help guide experiments.
- Diagnoses and resolves engine and test cell equipment problems in a timely manner.
- Configure the test cell automation system for testing, including channel set-up, calibration, programming of test sequences, and set-up of measurement instruments.
- Coordinate with Operations to ensure combustion air, engine cooling, fueling, electrical, and emissions sampling subsystems are adequate for each project.
- Quality check all test cell configurations, programming, and test data.
- Evaluates test equipment performance and identifies and handles non-conforming components.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
- 0-3 years of experience in engineering assignments with increasing levels of responsibility and complexity.
- Solid understanding of quality assurance processes (requirements analysis, root cause analysis, structured testing, test planning and execution, test documentation, troubleshooting, defect tracking, etc.)
- Willing and able to work in a noisy, hot lab environment.
- Specific knowledge of relevant ISO, SAE, US EPA, BAR, UL, or ETL requirements also a plus.
