Opportunity
Our Fortune 500 Client is seeking a Linux Administrator to join their team in Detroit, MI. An experienced, hands-on administrator with expertise in Enterprise Red Hat operating systems, with solid experience in VMWare. Strong technical expertise with Linux, scripting, virtualization and networking is a must.

Responsibilities
- Independently resolve Linux issues as required to mitigate and minimize outages
- Troubleshoot server and workstation hardware across several manufacturers and platforms
- Work alongside other Linux and Storage administrators to respond to end-user trouble requests through enterprise ticketing system
- Ensure Linux and ESXi systems are kept up-to-date by installing new software releases, system upgrades, evaluate and install patches to meet all government security requirements
- Perform configuration, optimization and tuning of Linux systems, ESXi systems, and storage devices and software
- Support and troubleshoot virtual hosts within a VMWare environment
- Responsible for system security, data integrity, and use of resources
- Provide technical guidance for system requirements on procurement requests
- Participation in VMWare administration team
Qualifications
- BS/BA degree (or equivalent) in Information Systems
- 5+ years of Linux IT operation & Linux system administration experience minimum
- Diagnostic and troubleshooting ability for Linux workstation and server builds
- Extensive knowledge of multiple network protocols including SSH, FTP, NFS, SFTP, TFTP
- Azure Experience
- Configuration Management tools: Puppet/Chef/Ansible
- Shell Scripting
- Experience with storage infrastructure design, storage architecture, administration and optimization (SAN, NAS, Fiber channel, iSCSI, etc.)
- Familiar with TCP/IP, switches, firewalls, routers, and configuration, administration and optimization
- Solid experience using VMWare vSphere, and ESX virtual computing methods
- Exposure to various automation, configuration management tools and continuous integration systems is highly desired
Benefits
- Pay ranges from $110K to $114K annually ($55 to $57 per hour), commensurate with experience
- Optional participation in benefits plan (medical, dental, vision, etc.)
- Contract opportunity with potential for extension or direct hire
