Our client, one of the leading manufacturers of battery cables and wire harnesses, located in Southfield, MI is currently seeking an Design Engineer to join their team. The selected candidate will lead assigned projects by serving as technical and program engineer responsible for product design and development from prototype phase to production.


  • Lead assigned project by serving as technical and program deliverable responsible for product design and development from prototype to production
  • Coordinate all engineering related activities with global cross functional teams to ensure technical aspects of the project is executed according to PM timeline
  • Evaluate customer specifications and review for technical compliance
  • Routing, packaging and design of automotive power cables for US OEM’s in collaboration with CAD Designers
  • Generate cost calculations based on RFQ package and/or drawings and collaborate with purchasing and sales
  • Collaborate with various department team members globally to ensure compliance to core company processes and methods
  • Generate DVP&R. Coordinate and follow DV and PV testing. Analyze results. Implement corrective actions for failures
  • Support vehicle builds and launches at customer prototype, pilot or production assembly plants and document trials and maintain customer sign-off


  • 3-5 years of experience in automotive Tier I supplier environment with design release background.
  • Must be self-directed and motivated to complete tasks and resolve issues with minimal direction from management
  • Must be able to interface with cross-functional and cross-cultural teams globally
  • Must have good verbal, written and presentation communications skills
  • Must have good working knowledge in MS Office: Word, Excel, Power-Point, and Outlook
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering and/or Engineering
    Technology degree in combination with relevant experience


  • $70K to $80K annually, commensurate with experience
