Job: CAD Designer

Opportunity

Our client, a leading global supplier of test equipment, is currently looking for a CAD Designer to join their team in Troy, MI. The selected candidate will be responsible for supporting the Engineering staff to create and maintain 2D CAD models and drawings in the development of new and modification of existing wire harnesses and associated components.

Responsibilities

• Create technical wiring harness drawings, value-added assembly drawings and component drawings for customer projects using 3D & 2D software. Revise drawings and models as required
• Maintain CAD component library and drawing vault
• Support activities required to release company products related to new model or engineering change activities
• Understand and utilize company & customer’s drawing policies and procedures
• Participate in company & customer weekly teleconferences as requested
• Other duties as assigned by the Manager

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in electrical/wire harness field
• Good understanding of design and drafting principals, procedures and specifications relating to harnesses, cables and electro-mechanical assemblies
• Must be able to utilize Inventor software and NX software to view 3D math models in order to identify physical requirements of the wire harness to incorporate on the 2D print. This includes dimensions, component orientation, breakout locations, harness overlay compare, etc.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to customers, suppliers and manufacturing locations
• Ability to extract data from NX files
• Experience with VeSys or Capital Harness is a plus
