Job: Software Developer – Detroit

Opportunity

Our Fortune 500 client is currently seeking an experienced Software Developer with UTILITY INDUSTRY experience to join their team at their Detroit, MI headquarters. (Job will be REMOTE for the next several months, eventually transitioning to onsite).

Responsibilities

This position requires an understanding and experience developing integration solutions that connect Advanced Meter Infrastructure (AMI) applications with each other and other enterprise applications. This includes working knowledge and experience with strategic integration technologies (ESB, Data Power, MQ) as well as Java, SQL and other SOE solution technologies, including service-oriented architecture (SOA). AMI applications have become key in the day-to-day operations of Billing, Customer-Care, Electric Distribution Operations, Finance, Marketing and Gas Operations. 

• Assess, advise and contribute to product upgrades and patching with clarity on how the changes impact the AMI application integration solutions and related business processes
• Sustain the day-to-day AMI operations, provides enterprise business support
• Clearly analyze and communicate on a regular basis multiple data points regarding IT projects
• Excellent attention to detail and high degree of accuracy in all work

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field of study
• 4+ years as a Software Developer focusing on design, development, and implementation projects
• Experience with Java, SQL, Enterprise Service Bus (ESB), IBM Data Power, IBM WebSphere MQ, monitoring software, and Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) technologies
• Availability to support off-hour operations and issues, as needed
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Proven job-related complex problem-solving and independent judgment abilities
• Strong customer focus, approachable and helpful, proactive and timely in responding to requests

Benefits

• Salary of $75K to $85K annually ($38 to $43 per hour)

• This job will likely be REMOTE to start, but requirement is onsite (Detroit) at some future point
