Job: Technical Writer – Detroit

Opportunity

Our Fortune 500 client is seeking two Technical Writers to join their ITS Infrastructure Operations team in Detroit, MI. The selected candidates will prepare clear, concisely written documentation that communicates technical information to a client audience. The candidates will also collaborate with technical staff to make products easier to use with fewer instructions. Pay is up to $90K for this contract opportunity.

Responsibilities

• Organize and compose supporting documents for products utilizing pictures, drawings, animation, diagrams, and charts to further users’ understanding of complex directions
• Standardize technical content across various platforms and media sources
• Collect usability feedback to judge customer, designer, and manufacturer satisfaction
• Collaborate with technical staff to make products easier to use with fewer instructions
• Study product samples and interview product designers or developers
• Modifying or revising documentation as new issues arise

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism or Communications
• Knowledge in a specialized field 3+ years, such as computer science, web design, or information technology

Benefits

• Pay ranges from $70K to $90K annually ($35 to $45 per hour), commensurate with experience
• Optional participation in benefits plan (medical, dental, vision, etc.)
• 6 Month contract opportunity with potential for extension
