Job: Design Release Engineer (Cable and Harness) – Southfield

Opportunity

Our client, a leading manufacturer of battery cables and wire harnesses, is currently seeking an Electrical Engineer to join their team in Southfield, MI as a Design Release Engineer (DRE). The selected candidate will bring local knowledge of the North American Automotive industry (demonstrated by work history in Metro Detroit) to aid in design of new products. The selected candidate will lead assigned projects by serving as technical and program engineer responsible for product design and development from prototype phase to production release. There will be regular Interface directly with customer engineering teams so above average communications skills are needed.

Responsibilities

• Routing, packaging and design of automotive wire harnesses for US OEM’s.
• Create technical responses (including presentations, drawings, etc.) to RFQ’s.
• Release 2D product drawings in customer systems in accordance with standards/requirements
• Collaborate with DVP&R (Design Verification Process and Report) team in Europe to validate product according to customer requirements.
• Maintain program specific product DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) in collaboration from appropriate teams globally.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of current experience in Metro Detroit Automotive supplier environment with design release background.
• Self-directed and motivated to complete tasks and resolve issues with minimal direction from management.
• Able to interface with cross-functional and cross-cultural teams globally.
• Good working knowledge in MS Office: Word, Excel, Power-Point, and Outlook.
• Above average communication skills
• Bachelor’s degree (Master not required) in Electrical Engineering.
• Travel both local and international up to 20%, valid driver’s license and passport needed.
